Ruyi Scepter

Item 45

About item 45

Ruyi Scepter sculpt of translucent to opaque whitish/green and soft lavender jadeite with emerald inclusions.

The lapidary has uniquely chiseled this ceremonial decorative object all around with intricate detail from a single stone.

Bats of good luck fly with spread wings over the incised cloud fashioned head while boys holding gold bars and lanterns enfold the sculptures bulk.

In traditional Chinese folk lore the sceptre symbolises Buddhist power represented here as pure conversation and good fortune.

The piece rises from an oval and footed wood base.
