Elephant Mother with Calves

Item 18

About item 18

Elephant statue sculpt of translucent lavender jadeite with slight green highlights.

The Lapidary has expertly chiselled this piece all around from a single stone.

From an earthen boulder base rise three standing elephants with upward trunks & protruding tusks.

The action of the sculpture is brought to motion by the flapping ears and in ancient tradition represents power and strength as guardian of temples and buddha.
